RAC1 and Torrons Vicens's Solidarity Nougat raises over two million euros for children's minority diseases

The sale of the Solidarity Nougat this Christmas achieved a record figure of 318,453 euros, which will go entirely to the Brain Project of the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu.

RAC1 and Torrons Vicens close this year's solidarity nougat campaign with a record figure: 318,453 euros raised. This is the largest amount raised since the start of the project which, since 2015, has already raised 2,105,000 euros. The money from this year's 2023 edition will go entirely to the Brain Project of the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu in Barcelona which, as part of the UNICAS initiative, is dedicated to research and treatment of rare childhood diseases.

318.453 euros: a record figure
The 2023 edition, as we said, achieved a record figure. For the first time, more than 300,000 euros were raised from the sale of the three RAC1 and Torrons Vicens charity nougats: the classic hazelnut praline with wafers and orange, the creamy almond with cookies and the brownie with pecan nuts, this year's new creation. In this way, the figure achieved in 2022 is exceeded by 30,000 euros.

The Brain Project

The proceeds from this year's event will once again go towards research and treatment of rare childhood diseases, which affect more than 400,000 children in Catalonia and in 80% of cases involve neurological problems or neuropsychiatric disorders. Thanks to the proceeds from 2022, the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu has begun funding a project to create a state-of-the-art brain tissue culture facility. This project will investigate fundamental aspects of the alterations in brain development that cause many neurological and psychiatric disorders and for which, in many cases, there is little or no treatment. Throughout the nine editions of the solidarity action promoted by RAC1 and Torrons Vicens, the more than two million euros raised have been an important boost to research, with promising results.
