Nougat and Chocolate Museum Barcelona

The Barcelona Museum
The Museum of nougat and chocolate is a unique space in the city of Barcelona with which we want to bring the gastronomic culture of nougat and chocolate to everyone. The museum is located in an iconic 1910 building on Rambla 134, which is accessed through the Torrons Vicens shop itself, a large and bright space of 300 square metres with a tasting area and workshop.

With the creation of the museum, in such an emblematic area of Barcelona as La Rambla, we want to show the past and present of Torrons Vicens and how we have managed to revolutionise the world of nougat, contributing to the consolidation of the nougat sector in Agramunt thanks to our commitment to tradition, innovation and quality, our pillars.

The nougat revolution
The revolution in the world of nougat in Agramunt began with Ángel Velasco Pérez, who in 2000 acquired Torrons Vicens, and thanks to his passion, effort and vision for the future, transformed the nougat sector in Agramunt.passion, effort and vision for the future, he transformed a company dating back to 1775 into the leading nougat company in Catalonia and Spain. In two decades, we have deseasonalised the nougat sector, turning it into a dessert that can be consumed all year round. The Museum of nougat and chocolate in Barcelona allows us to understand the key role we have played in the development of the sector in the municipality ofPonent, Agramunt. The incorporation of new flavours and formats and the collaboration with top chefs such as José Andrés and Albert Adrià have elevated nougat to haute cuisine.

3D projections, holograms, mapping and an immersive room
From the central part of the shop there are stairs that connect the shop with the museum, turning the shop and the museum into two pillars of a single cultural and gastronomic project that is unique in the city of Barcelona. The museum space has been built on a surface area of some 370 square metres and includes several rooms that tell the story of the nougat sector in Agramunt.
The tour of the museum begins with an introduction to the history of Turrón de Agramunt and the Torrons Vicens brand, from its birth in 1775 to the acquisition of the firm by the Velasco family in 2000 and the present day.
The museum also explains the evolution of Xocolata Jolonch, owned by Torrons Vicens, one of the oldest chocolates in Europe (1770) that we still make today with the original recipe and the highest quality ingredients.

Traditional chocolate-making is recreated in one of the museum's rooms, designed to simulate an early 20th-century chocolate factory. In the room there are large wooden windows in the Art Nouveau style through which real images of Barcelona at the time are projected.

The description of the chocolate-making process is accompanied by pieces of original furniture, such as a replica of a three-century-old wooden refrigerator. We can also see how a real mill for grinding chocolate worked, with the generation of holograms, through transparent glass, which allow us to recreate the activity in the 18th century chocolate factory in an impressive way.

The visit ends with a special tasting that allows us to discover the flavours, textures and nuances of quality nougats and chocolates.
