The nougat tradition of the town of Agramunt dates back to the year 1741, when it was first documented through letters of noble families of the region. The Agramuntnougat achieved a great recognition during the 19th and 20th centuries, largely due to the visits that the creators of the nougats made to festivals and markets in other regions. Later, the trade suffered the consequences of the civil war and for many years its production was halted due to problems supplying main ingredients such as hazelnut. After this period only a few families continued with the tradition until now. |
